9. The Other Guys

Original Release Date: Aug. 6, 2010

Box Office Earnings: $35,543,162 (opening weekend), $119,219,978 (USA gross)

Critical Acclaim: This was another movie that wasn’t nominated for any of the major awards. However, it did get nominated for a variety of awards around the world and was the Honorable Mentions winner at the Awards Circuit Community Awards and Best Comedy at the IGN Summer Movie Awards.

About the Role: The Rock is Christopher Danson in this cop comedy. He isn’t one of the main characters, but the partner of Samuel L. Jackson’s characters. The two are the best cops in the precinct and the ones that “The Other Guys” want to be. While not the main characters, they still get a good amount of screen time.

Simply the Best: This is just one of those movies that you can sit back and enjoy. Put it on at the end of a long day and just have a laugh. No thinking necessary. Dwayne Johnson’s performance isn’t anything over-the-top spectacular, but he gets to share some screen time with Jackson and other names.

This was almost a decade after his first appearance and certainly showed how far Dwayne Johnson came in a relatively short time.
