About the Role: The Scorpion King was one of Dwayne Johnson’s first ever movies, back when people still only referred to him as “The Rock.” In fact, that’s what he was billed as for this movie.
It was the spin-off to The Mummy and Johnson played Mathayus. The villain of the franchise, this movie gave us Mathayus’ backstory and made up for the whole five minutes that The Rock was in the original movies.
Simply the Best: Just being his first major movie as a lead star has to put it on the list. However, the movie has become a success. It gave The Mummy franchise fans the backstory they needed and made up for all the marketing of the actor in the original series.
This movie is certainly not going to be one that you need to watch every year, but it’s fun and a good way to tune out after a long week.
