30 Grey’s Anatomy episodes sure to make you cry

27. Season 9, Episode 10, “The Things We Said Today”
Adele Webber was one of the best things that happened to Grey’s Anatomy. Maybe that’s also the Supernatural fan in me that just adores Loretta Devine. Whatever the reason, this is an episode to watch when you feel the need to cry.
“The Things We Said Today” should have been an extremely happy episode. Bailey and Ben were getting married. After all their ups and downs, Bailey was walking down the aisle and Webber was going to be the one to give her away. It was sweet and everything we hoped for until the worst happened.
Adele was rushed into the hospital. We’d already seen some heartbreaking moments as it turned out that Adele had Alzheimer’s and she was pushed off the trial after Meredith rigged it to give Adele the real drug and not the placebo. But this is the most heartbreaking moment.
Bailey is prepared to miss her wedding day to save Adele. At first, it looks like she succeeded (and we happily find out that Ben is fully supportive of Bailey being late when he realizes Adele was the patient) but then we find out that it wasn’t meant to be. Of course, Webber isn’t going to tell Bailey that on her wedding day.
He shows up at the wedding and gets Bailey to attend to her guests. Meredith is the one he confides in and then we cut to Webber picturing his first dance with Adele at their wedding. I’ll never listen to “My Sweet Valentine” again.
