How can Dean be saved? How long will he be gone?

While we have had moments where the Winchesters have had to play other versions of themselves or possessed, they usually don’t last too long. Demon Dean was resolved fairly quickly. Soulless Sam went on too long. Sam’s possession by Gadreel didn’t feel like it was too much because the moments happened here and there.

Hopefully, we get a little time with Dean!Michael because it will be fun and interesting to see Jensen Ackles portray someone other than Dean Winchester. He’s already smiled more in the trailer for Season 14 than he has in the last five seasons combined.

But the question is how can Dean be saved without sacrificing him? That’s going to be a tough one to solve and I don’t see a clear answer from here. Will Chuck have to get involved? It’s possible because Michael is the only archangel topside at this point.

The Michael from prime universe is locked in a cage in Hell and has apparently lost his mind. Letting him out might be worse than what they’re facing now because while Dean!Michael is set on killing humans, he is predictable.

This storyline should last at least six or seven episodes. Give it a chance to flesh out and carry some weight to Dean’s decision. If the writers resolve it too quickly – like they did with Demon Dean – it feels as though the consequences don’t actually mean much.
