6. Why this group of people?

The people on the plane just conveniently seem to be linked in some way. Or they are needed for something bigger. The doctor had created the treatment for cancer patients that Ben’s son needed. Of course, Ben would need to be there to be with his son–at least, one parent would need to be.

There are likely many more connections to come. This was something that happened in LOST. Everyone had some sort of connection in some way.

My guess is Saavi, the doctor, was needed to convince Dr. Cardoso to allow Cal onto the trial. But what was so special about Cal? He needed the time jump to survive but there would have been plenty of other children just like him. So, why him?

Each of these characters clearly has some major part to play. Whatever caused the plane to time jump know they’re needed five years into the future. This is going to be a question for the season.

5. What’s with the voices?

Michaela got her own voice in her head (I’ll admit and say I thought it was her mother’s voice at first) to tell the bus driver to slow down. It turned out it was to stop the little boy from running into the middle of the road.

She also gets the voice near the place where the missing girls are. Josh also gets that voice and it’s likely that others are hearing their own voices in their heads. What’s with the voices?

Is it possible that they also went further forward in time somehow? Do they now have a mixture of timelines in their head without even knowing about it and the voices are those timelines telling them of things to come?

As for the voices, when will people hear their voices? It was clear that they had to be in proximity–and then after that, they’d be woken by them wherever they were. So, what sets the voices off in the first place? How close do they need to be to the problem or is it actually based on timing?

Are these voices connected to why the plane blew itself up? Was it the plane that blew itself up or this outside force that caused the time travel? Manifest may give a few headaches.
