New Amsterdam is back with a new episode tonight on NBC! Here’s what you need to know about how to watch the New Amsterdam season 1 episode 2 livestream.
NBC’s newest medical drama, New Amsterdam follows the new — and very controversial — medical director at the oldest public hospital in the United States. Dr. Max Goodwin uses his new position at the hospital to make drastic changes in favor of patient care (something we can all get behind) and must reinvent what hospital leadership looks like in order to be successful.
In the premiere episode, we learned that not only does Max have an emotional connection to the hospital, but that he has been diagnosed with cancer, something that perhaps motivates him to make these drastic changes so quickly, without fear of consequence.
In New Amsterdam season 1 episode 2, “Rituals,” Max will continue to navigate his own diagnosis and will be swayed by Dr. Sharpe to make more of a plan for himself. We see Max creating a revolutionary hospital work environment for doctors, employees, and staff in all departments, something we’re looking forward to seeing develop over the course of the season.

Watching the New Amsterdam live stream for season 1 episode 2, you’ll see that Dr. Kapoor and Iggy will be working together to help a boy who’s been over-medicated to the point that he cannot express himself or actively participate at school. The story opens up a conversation about how we treat children who’ve suffered emotional trauma, and how we are quick to use medication as a solution when we should be creating more opportunities for therapy to support mental health.
