Carl Grimes (Chandler Riggs)

Carl Grimes is yet another to meet his end prematurely on The Walking Dead. He wound up getting bitten while out on a recovery mission to bring Siddiq back. Carl revealed the bite to his father and Michonne after Negan launched an all-out assault on Alexandria.

In the midst of the attack, Michonne and Rick help carry Carl out of the danger zone. They managed to reach Gabriel’s church, giving them a refuge for Carl to live out his last moments. Carl then makes a tearful goodbye to his father and Michonne, asking them not to allow his death to weigh them down. They both silently agree but the task proves harder than anticipated.

The point is, Carl’s death was one of the most shocking and difficult to comprehend. Not only was the death completely unanticipated, but Carl’s comic counterpart also survives much longer.

Similar to Andrea, Carl also survives well into the following story arc of The Walking Dead comics. Carl is actually still alive in the comics. The comic series is up to Issue #184 and Carl hasn’t died yet. He’s become more and more of a fundamental member of the group as time has passed, and it doesn’t appear as if he’s going to be leaving anytime soon. Keep in mind that the Commonwealth’s presence has put everyone’s lives in jeopardy, which means we shouldn’t rule out the possibility of Carl’s comic counterpart dying soon.
