Best one-season shows No. 23: Cupid

Ok, so we are turning back the clock now, all the way to the late ’90s with Cupid.

If you haven’t heard of it, don’t panic. It was released in 1998, so some of us were still in school, heck some of us hadn’t even been born yet. However, despite being released way back in 98’ if you get the chance to watch this comedy series make sure you do, it’s a timeless comedy.

Canceled after only one season with a total of 15 episodes to its name, Cupid was about Trevor Hale, a man who believes he is the love god Cupid. Hale believes that he is being punished by Zeus and has been sent to earth without his powers.

Because of his believes he ends up being incarcerated in a mental institution where he encounters Dr. Allen. She doesn’t believe Trevor but takes pity on him and offers to help, by taking him under her wing.

Now I’ll be the first one to say, this sounds like a super dumb TV series, but it is far from it. It’s a hidden gem that really deserves much more appreciation than it has ever received.

Unfortunately, while it was new and fresh at the time, it was competing with the likes of Friends and other big sitcoms and reality TV shows and just couldn’t catch enough attention from the big network bosses, leading the series to eventually ending up being given the cancellation ax.
