Treehouse of Horror XXVII features Springfield hosting games where kids fight to the death, Lisa’s imaginary friend killing people, and Moe is actually a secret agent.

Treehouse of Horror XXVII opens with the Simpsons dressed for Trick-or-treating, but they are actually going Christmas tree shopping. Homer explains this by saying in America everything is always way too early. Arriving at the Former Felons Christmas Tree Lot, the Simpsons find themselves being locked in when they walk past the gates. Greeting them is Sideshow Bob, Kang, the Leprechaun, and the ghost of Frank Grimes. After explaining that they’ve banded together after always losing to Homer Simpson, they start to do an Irish gig before attacking him. But while they’re in the middle of dancing, Maggie pulls out a knife and kills Kang, the Leprechaun, and Sideshow Bob.

After this, Frank Grimes get furious and wonders out loud if anyone will stop the Simpsons. His question is answered by a screenshot of every episode ever (Treehouse of Horror XXVII is the 600th episode) before Grimes adds that in Hell they make you watch then all in a row. The Simpsons then have a couch gag parodying Planet of the Apes where they are held captive by couches. One couch eventually frees then and after it leads them to a secluded spot of beach, Homer knocks it out with a rock before they all sit on it. With that, the episode’s credits begin and the three sketches of Treehouse of Horror XXVII begin.

Dry Hard

Springfield becomes a Mad Max style wasteland when their water supply dries out. Because Mr. Burns is the only one with water left, he runs the town and sponsors children fighting to the death. After revealing that one child will be selected from each neighborhood to compete, Mr. Burns adds that the victor gets to spend a day of fun at his personal reservoir. Lisa is selected to compete from Evergreen Terrace and she meets her coach Homish (Homer) before the competition begins.

During the match, Lisa persuades her competitors that they don’t have to kill each other before telling the people of Springfield they could easily topple Mr. Burns. After Barney Gumble drives the Plow King into the arena dome, Lisa mounts the snow plow and leads a convoy of trucks to Mr. Burns’ reservoir. Using dynamite, Homish blows a hole in it that causes a flood. But it immediately all dries up and makes everyone think that all is loss. However, at that moment storm clouds appear and rain pours down. But the rain doesn’t stop and eventually Springfield floods before turning into an arctic wasteland.

BFF R.I.P.

Lisa’s friend Janey is killed by a lawnmower while playing Hide and Side at the Simpson house. At Janey’s funeral, Sherri and Terri decide to let Lisa be their friend only to be immediately killed by a falling headstone. After they are buried the same day in a ceremony attended by Drew Carey (in a cameo), Lisa begins attending Grief Counseling. Her therapist also ends up dying in a strange accident which makes Chief Wiggum suspicious. He labels her the prime suspect and when Wiggum searches her room he finds something that reminds Lisa of her imaginary friend Rachel that she outgrew a long time ago.

While getting on the school bus Lisa actually sees Rachel (Sarah Silverman) right before she kills Milhouse. Chief Wiggum arrests her for Milhouse’s murder and when Lisa is put in jail Rachel visits her. After it comes out that she’s killing everyone to be Lisa’s only friend, Bart helps Lisa escape so they can save Marge because Rachel blames her for Lisa forgetting about their friendship.

She arrives home in time to stop Rachel and an intoxicated Homer is able to see her too. His own imaginary friend Sergeant Sausage appears to help, but Rachel just folds him up and shoves him in the microwave. But Lisa banishes Rachel by turning into her own Mother and making her marry a dentist. After Rachel is banished, Homer also says farewell to Sergeant Sausage by eating his remains out of the microwave.

Moefinger

In a parody of Kingsman: The Secret Service, Moe easily takes out Dolph, Kearny, and Jimbo when they chase Bart. He then uses the Love Tester to access the secret lair hidden under the pool table.  While showing Bart around, Moe also reveals that the people who appeared to be wasting time in the bar were really secret agents and he’s kept an eye on Bart for a long time. After informing Bart that Homer’s death was actually in the line of duty, Moe says that he hopes Bart will take his place.

Bart immediately agrees so that he can avenge Homer before they all get intelligence saying Remoh Industries is planning to buy the World’s supply of Beer. It also turns out that Remoh Industries recently bought Duff Stadium and is holding a free concert there tonight. The group breaks into the company’s headquarters where they discover the CEO of Remoh Industries is actually Homer, who’s created a giant lava machine to take over the World and all the Beer is for celebration. Homer’s men and Moe’s agents battle it out while Bart manages to escape and kills Homer.

Treehouse of Horror XXVII ends with a song celebrating 600 episodes that also parodies the title song from Goldfinger.
