Miguel and Joe team up to save Penelope while Joe holds a trial. Here’s all you need to watch The Purge Episode 9 live.

The penultimate episode of The Purge should be full of fireworks as Joe is in possession of every main character besides Miguel. The Purge Episode 9 is titled, “They Will Participate.”

Last week, a huge bombshell was revealed involving Joe, and Penelope learned the truth about her religious cult and their leader, Tavis. In case you missed it, here is a quick recap of Episode 8.

In the biggest reveal of the season, Joe is not the admirable savior that he portrayed. It’s true that he saves people like Jane from terrible situations. However, the final scene revealed that Joe is a collector as all of the people he saved including Jane and Penelope were tied up and handcuffed.

In fact, Joe took it to the next level when he dragged both Rick and Jenna out of their house. Joe’s plan is unknown, but the preview mentioned a “trial” of some sorts.

At the beginning of the episode, Lila realizes that she cannot live without her love for Jenna. Although Jenna dismissed the thought of a future together, Lila remained undeterred and she even went as far as to bribe Rick away from Jenna so that she can raise the baby instead of him. Rick shot that idea down right away.

Feeling like there was no other choice, Lila took matters into her own hands, beat Rick with a paddle, and held him at gunpoint. Just as Lila pulled the trigger, Jenna stabbed Lila’s armpit, which caused the bullet to miss Rick. Lila collapsed with her fate unknown.

Finally, Miguel and Penelope survived the attacks in the woods and made it back to Pete the cop’s bar, where Pete was happy to see the duo. Pete revealed to Penelope that Good Leader Tavis, the head of the cult, was paid by the NFFA in order to prey on addicts and poor people in order to remove them from society on Purge Night. Distraught, Penelope decided to call Tavis and asked her to meet at the bar.

Outside, the bus arrived and Penelope tried to set the cult members free, but Tavis and the bus driver stopped Penelope in her tracks. Just as the bus driver was about to bring Penelope on the bus, Joe showed up and shot both the driver and Tavis. Joe then brought Penelope to his truck, where we later learned was a prison on wheels.

The official synopsis for The Purge Episode 9 is:

"Joe debates the Purge with Jane; Miguel teams up with Pete to rescue Penelope."
