Season one of The Simpsons was revolutionary in many regards, but one staple the show introduced was their iconic couch gag that occurs just before the family turns on the TV and the show’s opening credits begin.

Here is every couch gag from season one of The Simpsons.

Simpsons Roasting On An Open Fire-The debut episode of The Simpsons had no couch gag.

Bart The Genius- On the very first couch gag ever, the Simpsons all sit on the couch at the same time and it forces Bart in the air, only for him to land in front of the TV seconds later.

Homer’s Odyssey-The family sits on the couch only for it to fall immediately apart and they are left sitting on the floor. For good measure, the side table moves away as well.

There’s No Disgrace Like Home-The family sits on the couch and Homer gets shoved off. As a result, he falls on the ground while making his signature “D’oh.”

Moaning Lisa-When the family sits down at the same time, Maggie gets propelled in the air as a result of them squashing together. But Marge catches Maggie as she starts to fall back down.

The Call of The Simpsons-The family all sits on the couch with no problem.

The Telltale Head-The couch gag is a rehash of the one from Bart the Genius.

Life on the Fast Lane-There is no Couch gag in this episode either.

Homer’s Night Out- This one is a repeat of the couch gag from Homer’s Odyssey.
