#9 Blood Ties

Original Release Date: Blood Ties was released at the Cannes Festival on May 20, 2013, and received a theater premiere on March 21, 2014.

Box Office Earnings: Another low-budget film, with low results. May we remind you, the movies on this list are not here solely based on box office results. These movies are ranked based on Mila Kunis’ performance. Blood Ties only gathered $2.4 million worldwide. From that total, $2.3 million are international numbers and only $42 thousand from domestic sales.

Critical Acclaim: Blood Ties was met with mixed reviews at Rotten Tomatoes, it has a total of 52%, so most are in favor at least. Those who rated the film with a positive score praise the story and acting. It was a flop at the box office, which doesn’t help its reception.

About the Role: Mila Kunis didn’t have a major role in Blood Ties, but she made her presence known whenever she appeared on-screen. Kunis played Natalie, the girlfriend of Chris (Clive Owen), a man just out of prison trying to stay out of trouble. Her role is as dramatic as it sounds and she nails it!

Simply the Best: A fail at the box office and with some critics, but this movie holds up even today if you’re searching for a decent crime drama. Although Blood Ties does have many flaws and I see what the negative critics are talking about, you’re able to look past them. The story draws viewers in, but it does need some cooperation and commitment. This movie isn’t what we’re used to seeing Mila Kunis, so it makes it even more interesting.
