Arthur Christmas

For my last recommendation, we leave the ’80’s and jump to 2011 and the newer animated children’s film Arthur’s Christmas. The movie follows a generation of Santas and shows a unique take on how Santa makes his way around on Christmas Eve. Arthur is Santa’s youngest son and not the heir to the Santa title. The plot of the movie follows Arthur and elf Bryony as they try to bring a forgotten present to its intended recipient.

The voice cast of this film includes A-Listers James McAvoy as Arthur, Hugh Laurie as next in line to the Santa title, Steve and Bill Nighy as Grandsanta.

The film is fun for everyone in your family and is one that isn’t really talked about a lot. It’s newer, and only made about $50 million in the United States during its theater run, so not the most popular film out there. However, it is good.

The film is funny, especially the character of Grandsanta. Children are going to love the jokes and ideas the film throws around of how Santa makes it to every house in one night. Parents are going to identify with the themes of acceptance and earning a parent’s love.

I watch this film every year with my five-year-old son, and it’s one that I recommend to all my friends to watch with their children every year. So, if you’re a parent or not a parent, you should add this fun animated feature to your list this year.
