Vikings recap: [Spoiler] dies and Floki makes a decision
At the end of the last episode of Vikings, Ivar had proclaimed himself a god and brought a sacrifice. Now it’s time to find out who that sacrifice is. Could it really be Ivar?
Let’s be honest, we’re all waiting for the big battle between Ivar and Lagatha again. After the epic ending to Vikings Season 5A, we’re waiting for the two foes to come up against each other again. That’s not going to happen for a while, is it? Could it really be possible that Ivar has Lagatha to sacrifice?
That’s something the people have to witness for themselves in “The Lost Moment.” At the same time, we finally get a good amount of time in Iceland, as Floki makes a final decision about the current settlement.

Ivar makes a sacrifice
Vikings stars where the last episode left us. The hooded figure is brought for the sacrifice and is revealed to be a woman. Ivar is adamant that this is Lagatha, but the people around him know the truth. It’s definitely not Lagatha and the people immediately start chanting “Hail, Lagatha! Hail, Ragnar!”
It shouldn’t be surprising to learn that there is an uprising starting. Three men are brought in for Ivar to decide their fate. It didn’t take long for the people of Kattegat to turn on their “god.”
Meanwhile, Hvitserk is visited by a woman who wants to know why he’s still in Kattegat. Poor, Hvitserk. He makes it clear that he can’t leave now. After abandoning Ubbe, he knows that there is no place there, as much as he would prefer to be with his elder brother.
Ever loyal to the gods, Hvitserk is putting his life in their hands and waiting for the reason this has all come to pass. What will the answer be? Will he be the one to kill Ivar in the end, should that happen?

Alfred declares war
Meanwhile, Harald’s army has reached Wessex. It’s time for war and that means gathering all the troops. Bjorn, Lagatha, and Ubbe’s armies will join with Alfred’s.
There’s just one problem. There is dissension in the ranks. Aethelred is ready to lead a rebellion against his brother until Alfred wants his brother to be by his side. Alfred will lead the people into war but he needs to know that he has support. Aethelred has a change of heart and decides not to start the coup.
Bjorn and his family are also struggling with decisions made. Believing Magnus to be Ragnar’s son, he takes Magnus to see Ubbe, Torvi, and Lagatha. It’s clear that none of them believe Magnus to be telling the truth. Ragnar made it clear that he never slept with Queen Kwenwrith.
Deciding to believe Magnus, there’s tension between everyone. However, they will all need to fight against Harald. Will Bjorn choose the man that once sided with Ivar?
Floki makes a decision
We haven’t spent much time on Vikings in Iceland. That changes this week as a lot of the episode is focused on the problems with the settlement. The last we knew, Thorunn had gone missing and it doesn’t take long for Floki to get a visit from her ghost. She shares exactly who killed her and where her body is.
Yes, the body is there. It’s devastating and Floki immediately knows that he needs to do something to stop everything. What’s his choice? To make all of Eyvid’s family leave.
This, unfortunately, includes Helgi, Thorunn’s husband. I with Thorunn’s family had stood up for Helgi, but he is part of Eyvid’s family and part of the problem. Why should he be the one that gets to stay, especially when there are children?
Eyvid tries to argue to stay, even threatening to fight Floki. It’s coming up to winter and there’s no food out there. They will all starve. Floki doesn’t really care; they’ve all brought this on themselves.
The death at the end
In the end, we’re back at Kattegat. Ivar clearly knows something and feels like the Seer is a threat. While the Seer gets a vision of fire and destruction, Ivar swings and axe and kills him.
Considering how little the Seer has been in the series lately, it was certainly a twist I didn’t see coming. What does this mean moving forward? Now who will we get our wise words from?
