Celebrity Big Brother recap time has arrived again. Season 2 Episode 1 aired on Monday, January 21, and the presentation kept CBS viewers glued to the screen.

The episode began with host Julie Chen introducing a group of six houseguests and the producers presenting behind-the-scenes interviews for each one. Tom Green, Ryan Lochte, Kato Kaelin, Tamar Braxton, Lolo Jones, and Natalie Eva Marie were in the first group. When they entered the house, Tom, Ryan, and Kato chose to bunk together in one room.

The second group of celebrities to enter the game were Ricky Williams, Dina Lohan, Jonathan Bennett, Kandi Burruss, Joey Lawrence, and Anthony Scaramucci. Upon having all 12 celebrities inside the game, they began chatting innocently and enjoying some sandwiches and champagne. The 2019 winter season was officially off and running.

Though there was some time in real life between when the celebrities entered the game and when the first Head of Household took place, producers and Julie Chen made it look like the challenge took place right away.

Celebrity Big Brother recap: First HOH Competition

The celebrities competed in teams and they were allowed to pick their partners in the first competition. The teams were Ryan Lochte and Jonathan Bennett, Tamar Braxton and Kandi Burruss, Joey Lawrence and Ricky Williams, Lolo Jones and Tom Green, and, finally, Dina Lohan and Anthony Scaramucci. Only 10 would compete, meaning Eva Natalie Marie and Kato Kaelin had to sit it out. Though they sat out, Julie Chen announced they would be safe from the first eviction.

The challenge involved one team member swinging to spraying water (represented as champagne), transporting that water to their teammate, and having that teammate deposit it in a large glass. The first team to fill their glass would win. It was a tough competition that the team of Ryan Lochte and Jonathan Bennett would win. But there was a twist.

The first Celebrity Big Brother twist

Julie Chen revealed that Ryan and Jonathan would next compete in a head-to-head challenge. The winner would become the first Head of Household and the loser would become the first nominee for eviction. That’s where the episode came to end, leaving a cliffhanger for what would take place at the beginning of Episode 2 on Tuesday, January 22. It was a good move by producers, especially since spoilers about the nominees haven’t been leaked this season.
