4. A conversation between monsters

Things finally came to a head on this episode and Lorna finally confronted Andy on Reeva’s true intentions. At first, Andy struggles to believe that Reeva would kill mutants or even attempt to further divide humans against the mutant race. After soul-searching though, he eventually comes around to believing what Lorna says to be the truth.

She then pushes Andy to come with her and return to the Mutant Underground but Andy believes his family thinks of him as a monster. He says he deserves to be with monsters like himself.

She then gets Reed on the phone with Andy in hopes he is able to convince him that he needs to come home. Andy tells his father that he remembers how they all looked at him when he tried to kill the Purifier.

Reed, understanding his son’s pain, begins describing how he killed a man. He explains that he also became overwhelmed with darkness that he was unable to control and he understands exactly what Andy felt. Reed says that if Andy is a monster, then so is he. Andy hangs up and Reed and the rest of the group are left wondering if the phone call worked.

As the episode comes to a close, Reed and the rest of the group are back in their home. Soon they hear someone at the door and when it opens, there stands Andy. Reed, Kate, and Lauren all jump to their feet to each take turn giving him a giant welcome home hug. The scene then cuts to Lorna entering Marcos’s room and the both of them embracing with a luminescent glow surrounding them.

5. An inevitable consequence

The episode then finishes with Reeva discovering that Lorna and Andy have betrayed her and rejoined the Mutant Underground. Once she figures this out, she presses the Frost sisters on why they did not sense the event coming or predict the outcome. They convey to Reeva that they knew there was some apprehension from Lorna but none of them knew Andy had doubts.

Reeva nows realizes her grand plan will no longer work but she has a new mission in mind. Killing those who betrayed her.

So, does this mean we’re going to see Lorna or Andy die next week? The show typically plays it safe to a fault at times, so death is probably not likely. It’s safe to say though that Reeva will take the war to their doorstep next week for the upcoming season finale. Also, adding to safe choices, the end of the episode seems to hint that Clarice might be alive.

As John sits on the rooftop, he hears her say his name. What does this mean? Did Blink actually survive?

Final thoughts

Overall, it was a decent episode which should set up some interesting stakes for next week. It’s easy to predict a massive fight to happen between the Inner Circle and the Mutant Underground. What will result of this fight is anyone’s guess.

The show has trouble taking risks with killing people and that includes Blink who seems to be alive. If they reverse that death it’s going to be hard to find any tension going forward. That said, it’s good to see the gang back together before the season wraps up.
