Since The Gifted is on winter break, can we talk about something? Goodness gracious, Emma Dumont and Sean Teale are incredible.

It’s time to give credit where credit is due. In The Gifted, Marcos (Eclipse) and Lorna (Polaris) — played by Sean Teale and Emma Dumont, respectively — are just amazing on screen.

Their ex-couple is currently at odds with each other, as Lorna has joined the Inner Circle while Marcos has remained with The Mutant Underground. But the conflicted energy between these two is palpable, and only extremely talented actors can pull that off the way they do.

The tension between the two characters began when Lorna (Emma Dumont) started to have doubts about the peaceful methods of The Underground. Eventually, their differences drove them apart. But, as I’ve mentioned many times throughout my coverage of the show, the official Twitter account for The Gifted did heavily allude to a reunion for the two. (And I’ll keep writing about it until it happens.)

Anytime Emma Dumont and Sean Teale are on screen together, it’s just next-level acting. It’s a whole different level than any couple I’ve personally ever seen. This couldn’t have been more evident than when The Inner Circle brought Eclipse (Sean Teale) into their hideout to heal his and Polaris’ baby.

He was so distraught when he had to leave afterward, and the emotions between him and Emma Dumont were just…. again, next-level stuff. She was cold yet clearly moved by his distress as he pleaded with her to reconsider her decision to leave him.

These were all stellar performances, all of theirs were. But what would follow would seal it and solidify them in my mind as television’s (and movies’) best all-around couple: their Episode 8 performance.

When Lorna (Emma Dumont) visits Marcos (Sean Teale) with their baby, Dawn, in hand, giving him the opportunity to say goodbye before she took her to be raised by her aunt — it had to be one of the best moments in the history of the show business. It deserves to be remembered as such.

As a teary-eyed Sean Teale turned to a stoic but distraught Emma Dumont, pouring his heart out to her in absolute pain, a new standard was set for TV and movie couples.

“Who’s gonna hold her? And tell her she’s special? Eho’s gonna love her, Lorna?”

It was flawless. The two were, and are, absolutely incredible, and my personal Oscar award goes to them for that performance. The two of them have awesome careers in front of them.

Hopefully, we see their characters reunite as a couple soon on The Gifted.
