4. Dean Merryman wasn’t CIA

Despite the episode initially starting out as what looked like Tal’s men killing another CIA agent, there was a deeper story to it. Dean Merryman, the man shot on the commuter train, was formed CIA. He now worked for IVS Analytics, a private intelligence firm.

Merryman happened to have a storage unit, which once again, Erica had helped figure things out. A small group went, but it was soon clear that Tal’s men were there too, wanting the information that the FBI was looking for.

While in the storage unit, Erica stole a page out of a book that included her name — what could this mean for later? — while the FBI chased after one of Tal’s men (and killed him in a fall that would make you shudder). With the FBI in charge of the items in the unit, it was time to go through all the important documents.

And that leads us onto the next takeaway.

3. Black Bear is at IVS Analytics

Dean didn’t trust anyone — a running theme with The Enemy Within Episode 2 — but he did know that there may be a case that he’d be killed. You see, he was collecting information about Tal. He’d told one person at his workplace that if he asked, download all the information he’d collected on the work’s secure server and take it with them.

Who was that person? Code name: Black Bear. BB. Beverly Brookes.

Unfortunately, as the FBI (well, Erica) figures that out, Anna is listening in and able to get a message to Tal’s men. They go in after Beverly, just as the FBI turn up. She tries to get all the information but a grenade forces her against that.

All that information Dean had collected about Tal has gone. Well, except for one thing that he’d told Beverly.
