The Enemy Within recap: 5 major moments from Black Bear
2. There’s something in Cuba
Beverly remembers something about Dean researching a mountain range in Cuba. He researched weather patterns, the trajectory, and absolutely everything possible in detail. But Tal has no connection to Cuba. At least, not that Erica knows.
It looks like they’re at a dead end, but it’s clear that’s not going to be the case. Cuba is going to come up again. The question now is how!
I have to question whether he was researching Cuba to throw people off. Sierra Maestra was the exact mountain range name given. Could this have been a code for something? Something that Erica may have an answer to within that page she took? Or just something Erica can figure out at a later date?
1. Anna is cleaning up
Finally, we have to turn to Anna’s storyline. She’s spent the episode in the background, listening in when nobody thought she was. That was how she got the code name to Tal’s men to make sure they had a chance to get to Beverly first.
However, there’s more to Anna than meets the eye. This clearly isn’t just someone on the lower level of the organization. Considering she’s CIA, that’s not surprising. Tal would want people higher up in the organization.
She is on a mission to start cleaning up. One of those messes is Viktor, who looks like he might start talking if he’s left to his own devices. Even though he says he won’t, it’s clear that Anna doesn’t trust him — and maybe this was the plan all along.
Anna uses some string and manages to kill Viktor while he’s stuck in the cell. He’s left tied with the string she used, making it look like he’d killed himself. Considering Anna had been able to trip the security camera to put it on a loop so nobody saw her go in or out, it’s smart.
