#1 Who is Shadow Moon?

Moon may be the main character, but by the last episode, we still are no closer to knowing who Moon really is. Sure, we know how he met his wife and how he ended up in jail, but why is he a part of the story? While Odin could have picked up Moon as a bodyguard for his boxing experience and strength that is emphasized by his buff body, Odin is not likely to pick out a regular human to protect him when what he needs is an advantage.

There’s something about Moon that has to be Odin’s leverage against the Gods he wishes to spite. What that is, is still a mystery, and an even bigger mystery is how Moon’s purpose will help battle the very advanced New Gods.

The most obvious assumption is that Moon is a God and doesn’t remember. The only problem is that at least one God would have had the power to recognize this by now. After all, Moon has met a handful of Gods during Odin’s recruitment. Unless there’s a reason that the Gods are not necessarily able to recognize his power at the moment. It’s also possible that Moon may not have a godly origin but is still magical like Mad Sweeney.

In this case, Moon ’s form of magic could help Odin for something that has yet to come. Lastly, it’s possible that Moon is related to or has a connection to a God. If Moon’s relationship with another God is the clincher here, then Odin could use Moon as a negotiation piece. But the likelihood of this theory being true is slim, as these Gods don’t seem to care about much.
