16. Lancel Lannister

Played by: Eugene Simon

First episode: “Lord Snow” (Season 1, Episode 3)

Last Episode: “The Winds of Winter” (Season 6, Episode 10)

Reason for Annoyance: Who even was this guy? He popped in and out of seasons like a Jack in the Box desperate for attention. This little baby face kid was first seen as the shy squire to King Robert and option number two in Cersei Lannister’s list of incest romances. The nephew of Tywin Lannister, Lancel was Cersei, Jamie, and Tyrion’s cousin though he was treated no different than a slave boy who would occasionally pleasure the Queen.

I might have been the only one, but every time Lancel vacated the screen, I forgot who he was. Then he’d unexpectedly reappear and beg for more attention from a family not known for their affectionate side. He later joined the Sparrows in an attempt to obtain the voice he never got among the Lannisters, taking on the title Brother Lancel.

He was even more irritating after that. Couldn’t get attention so he joined a religious cult, couldn’t he have just taken up alcoholism like everyone else on the show?

15. Shae

Played by: Sibel Kekilli

First Appearance: “Baelor” (Season 1, Episode 9)

Final Appearance: “The Children” (Season 4, Episode 10)

Reason for Annoyance: A volatile woman that wasn’t a high-born struggling for political or emotional survival, Shae was introduced as a mysterious woman with a troubling past that became part of a moving love story that ended in tragedy.

Tyrion and Shae could have been the perfect couple, she even looked like a lioness. In the end, she betrayed him for an unknown reason and Tyrion, forever destined to be heart-broken, killed her with his bare hands. However, she was getting irritating long before that.

“I’m a whore” might as well have been her tagline, she said it more than anyone else and it was her answer for everything. She can’t wear nice clothes, no one respects her, people hate her, no one will marry her, she can’t live at court…because she’s a “whore.” I mean, it was true but did she, and everyone else, have to bring it up so many times? She repeatedly accused Tyrion of wanting to marry other women and held her rage just below the surface.

Though it was obvious how devoted Tyrion was to her, we never really knew what Shae was thinking during their time together. Though it’s implied that she loved him too. This makes her betrayal even more befuddling.
