On the newest episodes of Star vs the Forces of Evil, Star tries desperately to help Eclipsa win over the people of Mewni who still don’t trust her.

On the first new episode, titled, “Yada Yada Berries”, of the latest Star vs the Forces of Evil power hour – Star and Marco try to hunt down the person who attempted to turn Eclipsa into stone by putting the dangerous yada yada berries into her oatmeal.

Between their key suspects, a sketchy chameleon, a cat-loving assassin with pink eye, and Sherry the Apothecary, they pretty much come up empty. (We also see Rasticore again! Even though he was evil, it was sad to see him all weak and scrawny.)

Sherry self-yadas herself and turns to stone to avoid giving up her entire list of contacts. Tons of mewmans bought the berries and any one of them could be the culprit. No one wants to fess up but clearly, Eclipsa is not beloved by the kingdom.

Did the people who were turned to stone ever get freed, by the way?

Down by the River

Moon is being driven mad by River, as one would expect, while they try to live off the land and pass the time. She spends her days staring at caterpillars while River attempts to fry rocks and use sticks as meat.

She is given a new purpose when a family of mewmans stumble upon their new home in the woods. While Moon isn’t interested in being their “leader” any longer, eventually they form a kinship and agree to live together in a new community. I have a feeling this may come into play later in the season. Could Moon and River be starting a new kingdom for mewmans to live?

The Ponyhead Show!

We get our first glimpse at Ponyhead for season 4 of Star vs the Forces of Evil when Star recruits her to assist in getting Eclipsa seen by the masses. It is Star’s hope that if Eclipsa goes on Ponyhead’s show, they can show the Kingdom of Mewni the real Eclipsa and begin to understand why she’s not the queen of darkness everyone believed her to be.

Unfortunately, due to several zany disasters on Ponyhead’s behalf and the fact the show was forcefully broadcast through everyone’s compact with no way to turn it off, everyone revolts against it and Eclipsa. Even her heartfelt ballad does nothing to turn the tide. At least they tried, right?

Well, hope may not be totally lost, a young, impressionable girl seemed taken with Eclipsa, even humming her song as she becomes the sole person to vote in favor of Eclipsa’s performance.

Surviving the Spider Bites

In another bid to win Eclipsa favor from the kingdom, Star sets up a meeting with the royal Spider Bites family. They’re the only neighboring kingdom with even the slightest wiggle room on becoming allies with Eclipsa. Except, Eclipsa doesn’t show up at the dinner and Star is left struggling to stall.

She recruits dancers to put on a show and takes the Spider Bites on a tour of the castle to see Eclipsa’s artwork and trinkets. Unbeknownst to Star, almost everything she used as a ploy to win over the Spider Bites was a horrific reminder of what Globgor did to the Spider Bites family. They aren’t impressed.

By the time Eclipsa arrives, she has to do some quick damage control to assure the Spider Bites that Globgor is no longer a threat. She shows them his crystallized prison and assures the family he cannot ever escape it. Sated by this, they agree to become Eclipsa’s allies should she ever need them.

As for the reason Eclipsa was late in the first place, she was trying to find a single scrap of the Book of Spells Ludo burned. If she can find one, then Glossaryck can use his special beetles to recreate it. Star claims she has no idea where Eclipsa can find one but the episode ends with her visiting the small remnant she has tucked away in her closet. Apparently, Star doesn’t trust Eclipsa as much as she claimed to.
