Littlefinger (aka: Petyr Baelish)

Time of Death: Season 7, Episode 7 “The Dragon and the Wolf”

Cause of Death: Throat slashed by Arya Stark.

Valar Morghulis: Littlefinger (Aidan Gillen) thought he was ever so clever. And he was. For a time.

Coming from nothing, Littlefinger was the man who kicked off this entire mess. He conspired to kill Robert Baratheon’s Hand of the King, Jon Arryn, and bring Ned Stark into the fold, creating a chasm in the once peaceful realm. As we all know, Littlefinger thrives on chaos, climbing the ladder of insanity and making adjustments as needed to ensure he had the best position for continued success. He got quite far before his protege, Sansa Stark, surpassed him and knocked his carefully constructed ladder into the fires of hell.

Littlefinger felt like he was well on his way to becoming the king of the world. With Cersei Lannister in his pocket, control of the Vale, and Sansa’s ear at his disposal, he had everything he needed to sidle his way into obtaining more and more power. But his big mistake was underestimating Sansa. When he began to pit the two Stark sisters against one another, things went awry. As Ned Stark said long ago – the lone wolf dies, but the pack survives. Littlefinger’s deceit tore the Starks apart, but now that the family is back in Winterfell, they constitute a strong pack that won’t be broken again. Arya’s slick knife skills saw to that. Now that one of the biggest threats to the Starks south of the wall is out of the way, the big question is whether or not we’ll see Arya use his scheming face to do more damage in Season 8…
