4. Nico’s future as a surgeon could be in question.

Perhaps no one had a harder week than Nico. He goes in to do a surgery on a patient who has a spinal cord injury and winds up making a fatal mistake involving a bone cement leak. The timing couldn’t be worse since Nico is beginning interviews for a permanent job since his fellowship is winding down. Levi peppers in all the reasons Seattle is the best place for him to stay, but their relationship hits a serious snag when Levi’s good intentions pull a hare-trigger in an already sensitive Nico.

In the wake of his patient dying from his error, Nico is clearly not in the best mindset to be doing important interviews – something Levi tries to point out as gently as he can. The ortho surgeon doesn’t take kindly to the suggestion and goes for Levi’s jugular, claiming his entire life is built around failure. Ouch. I get Nico is hurting but it sucks to see him lashing out at someone who merely trying to be there for him.

3. Jackson and Maggie may be moving in together.

By episode’s end, both Jackson and Maggie have had exhausting days. Jackson was trying to tactfully handle Jo to the best of his ability despite knowing she was drunk at work. Maggie had to attempt to fix Nico’s mistake and was unable to do so. A 21-year-old man died on her operating table.

But sitting together in the cool blue light of Maggie’s alternative pain room strikes a chord in Jackson. He loves Maggie and he doesn’t want to miss their moment. He proposes she move in with him and it would seem Maggie accepts.

2. Alex and Jo are at an impasse.

Things aren’t really getting better with Jo and it doesn’t appear they will be any time soon. She shows up at the hospital drunk. Luckily, Jackson doesn’t rat her out, this time. If it happens again, Jo won’t be met with compassion.

At home, Alex is scared he’s going to lose Jo the way he lost Izzie. “It’s happening again. They break and they leave me.” He tells Meredith. She offers him some words of comfort, tells him he needs to let Jo talk to him in his own time, yet Alex’s fear gets the better of him and he confronts Jo in a heated moment back at their home.

Jo tells him if he ever threatens to go to Pittsburgh and find out what happened between her and her birth mom, she’ll leave him. Alex tells Jo if she ever comes to work drunk again, he’ll tell Bailey. “We have a deal,” is Jo’s caustic response. I have a feeling things will get worse between #Jolex before they get any better.

1. Meredith tells her kids about DeLuca.

It happens by accident, at first. Meredith and Andrew are indulging in adult sleepover activities and in the aftermath, Zola catches Andrew in the hallway.

By episode’s end, Meredith has plied all three kids with ice cream and told them that she likes Andrew, a lot, and he’ll be spending way more time around the house. We can safely assume #MerLuca is here to stay, at least for a little while.
