12. Abby’s

Number of seasons: 1

Network: NBC

Why it’s in danger: We’re onto another freshman show that isn’t performing well. This time, it’s all about NBC’s latest freshman comedy, Abby’s.

There was a lot of hope for this show. Airing on Thursdays after (initially) Will & Grace and (now) Brooklyn Nine-Nine, it was clear that NBC wanted the series to perform well. Yet, it’s been a disappointment. And it’s a shame, because the show is funny and has a great cast.

Abby’s is the lowest performing freshman show on the network in terms of both total audience and demo. In fact, its total audience is lower than the previously canceled Midnight, Texas. It’s also lower than Blindspot in both ratings, which is a show you’ll find pop up on this list.

Even as a midseason show, NBC will have wanted better. It’s even lower than I Feel Bad, and that’s another of the underperforming TV shows at the risk of being canceled.

Considering all other comedies on the night have at least half a million more viewers, it wouldn’t be surprising to see NBC decide against renewing this comedy. The network will need to make way for other shows coming next year.

Chances of renewal: Don’t get too attached to this freshman comedy. It’s one of the TV shows likely to be canceled in May 2019.
