Trouble comes to Firehouse 51 during a storm. Who is after the boy in Chicago Fire Season 7, Episode 19?

Tonight’s episode of Chicago Fire Season 7, titled “Until the Weather Breaks,” saw a young boy head to Firehouse 51 for safety. Who was he on the run from? His abusive father? A brother? An uncle? It’s time to find out.

The questionable electricians

Before getting into the meat of the story, there was a side story taking place. With the storm, the power was in and out at the firehouse. A couple of electricians turned up, but they weren’t the greatest. Unsurprisingly, one of the electricians fell off the roof and needed to be revived before being taken to Med.

Overall, this part of the storyline wasn’t that important. The only use was that Foster had to drive the ambo back into the station and that connected to the very end.

A firefighter from Detroit?

While the storm raged on, a man turned up at the firehouse. Suffering “car trouble,” he decided to seek refuge, claiming to be a firefighter from Detroit. After saying he was heading out to one place and then later changing his mind, Otis realized something was off.

It didn’t take long for Otis to realize this guy wasn’t a firefighter at all. He was after the boy who Casey had found earlier in the episode, the boy that Brett was now looking after. Brett had got the boy into the breakroom after he fell asleep and this “firefighter” decided to use his chance to go after him, knocking Otis out and stopping at nothing to claim his prey.

He even pulled a gun out on Stella at one point, although she made it very clear she wasn’t leaving the boy alone to go with the man. Fortunately, they were interrupted and everyone ganged up on the guy.

It turned out that the guy had murdered the boy’s neighbor. The boy had seen the murder and he stowed away on the fire truck at the call in the area. Pretty smart really, but the guy had taken this guess and realized where everyone was going.

Just as it looked like the guy was going to get away (albeit with his hands empty), Foster brought the ambo back from dropping the fallen electrician off at Med. Severide used the chance to run the guy into the ambo. No, neither were hurt but it was enough to get the guy restrained for P.D. to show up.

Development in the relationships

Chicago Fire Season 7, Episode 19 was more of an episode to bring more development on two key relationships. The first was Stella and (sort of) Severide. She’d started to notice Severide hadn’t been spending much time at Molly’s after spending all his time there when she was there. Foster finally admitted that she’d had words with Severide about the situation.

Stella wasn’t happy at first. However, after a while, she realized that Foster was just looking out for her as a friend. The two made up at the end and it looks like Stellaride isn’t happening again just yet.

Another in-house relationship may be happening, though. With the murderer in prison, the boy was taken to the police station to his parents. Brett stayed with him until parents and child were reunited and Casey went to pick her up. As Brett gave the little boy a warm and happy smile, Casey gave Brett a look.

Yep, it looks like Chicago Fire is heading down a Brett-Casey thing. It sort of makes sense but there’s no doubt that Gabby won’t be happy when she finds out. But considering Casey and Brett have both had heartache in reason relationships, they could be just right for each other. I’m not sure how I feel about it just yet.
