3. Did Michael really choose Maria?

Michael comes to terms with the fact he loves Alex and it’s super sweet. The problem is, Alex is tied to so much pain in Michael’s life. His family is responsible for taking his mother away and orchestrating the alien testing facility at Caulfield. It’s hard for him to be with Alex at the moment because he brings so many painful memories.

Being with Maria is easier, it’s new, it’s a forward step into a different future instead of the past. But that doesn’t mean Michael and Maria are going to be together forever.

I think Michael gets something different out of both relationships. It’ll be fun to see the Michael/Maria pairing explored for a while. And if you’re a fierce #Malex shipper, I wouldn’t be too worried. Carina Mackenzie chatted with Entertainment Weekly post-finale hinting that Michael and Alex would eventually find their way back to each other.

We’re so early in the show, it’s only Season 1! I’m excited to see how things unfold and watch these characters grow and evolve, both towards and away, from each other. That’s half the fun of television.

2. Will Max be resurrected?

So Max is dead. Wow. I can safely say I didn’t see that coming. While he isn’t my favorite character, it was devastating to see Liz lose the man she loves so soon after finally telling (or showing) him how she feels.

At least he went out in a blaze of glory, summoning all of his newfound power post-killing Noah into reviving Rosa. Does that mean he’s actually dead as a doornail? I kind of doubt it. I have a feeling he’ll be back in Season 2, though I have no idea how. But we all thought Rosa was dead too and well…

1. How will everyone handle Rosa being alive?

ROSA IS ALIVE!? Oh my god, I was NOT expecting that twist with Noah having kept her body suspended in his pod all this time! I’m not even sure how he managed to do that since they had an autopsy, a funeral, etc… but then again, he is a powerful alien. I guess grave-digging isn’t exactly hard for someone like him.

Even more surprising was Max reviving her. I wonder if he knew he was going to die in the process? It seemed more like he was high on the power surge and took advantage of it to help Liz.

The reunion between her and her sister was touching. The question is, where do they go from here? Rosa will obviously know about aliens at this point, if she didn’t already then coming back from the dead should be an obvious clue.

Then there’s the whole she’s-a-secret-Valenti thing to deal with. How will they break the news to Liz’s father? Or will they decide to bury it? Either way, this season finale set up plenty of juicy new storylines to be explored if the show gets renewed!

Odds & ends

  • How on the nose was the scene with Kyle trying to buy a gun? The guy offered him a friends-and-family discount after seeing he was clearly unstable. It’s the sad truth of America.
  • Manes mentions “taking care of” Alex. Does he really intend to kill his son?
  • I have to admit I found the scene of Max taking lightning from the sky a little too cheesy for my taste. Also, no one does it like Thor, let’s be real.

No news yet on Roswell, New Mexico’s renewal status but stay tuned to Hidden Remote for updates!
