A few fans took to Twitter to ask (some were even upset) why Game of Thrones Season 8, Episode 2 was so hilarious, expecting a darker tone. Well, the answer is pretty simple.

We’re still laughing at the fun moments and lines featured on Game of Thrones Season 8, Episode 2. If you missed it, let’s just say everyone, particularly Tyrion, was on a roll with the jokes. When isn’t he, though, right? Please note: Spoilers ahead if you have yet to watch Episode 2, “A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms,” and are not caught up on the series.

Despite this episode dealing with a lot of tough subjects, such as Jaime’s arrival, Jaime’s confrontation with Bran, Jon revealing to Daenerys who his real parents are, and even Arya’s time with Gendry — we have to admit the episode was hilarious. And when we weren’t laughing, we were crying along with Brienne, who was the highlight of the episode.

Brienne may also be the reason why Episode 2 was so heartwarming and fun. Game of Thrones is obviously setting us up for a heartbreaking episode this Sunday with Episode 3, and a lot of fans quickly caught on to this.

Check out the tweets, below:

Were you laughing along to all the jokes? I know I was! On the back of my mind, though, and I’m sure yours, too, was preparation for the heartbreak that’s to come.

Think about it, Game of Thrones gave Brienne a lot of screen time. Not that she doesn’t deserve it, Brienne definitely does and this is long overdue. But now that Brienne is a knight, her dream is  fulfilled, she also did what she promise to do, which is to keep Sansa Stark safe. We all teared up for Brienne during all of her scenes, knowing she’ll likely die next week.

Don’t get me wrong, I hope she makes it out of this war alive, but I’m mentally prepared for anything. One thing is for sure, after such a fun episode, a lot of death ahead in Episode 3 is a given!

Game of Thrones Season 8, Episode 3 premieres Sunday, April 28, only on HBO.
