The Resident: 3 surprising moments from Season 2, Episode 22
By Mads Lennon
1. Nic decides not to go through with the organ broker.
The second that guy said the words “organ broker” Nic should have been like, “let’s bounce girls.” I mean I know she’s at the end of her rope but this is SHADY stuff. Alec pretty much expects Nic to trust him since it’s only on his word Nic is even introduced to the sketchy broker.
Nic’s initial reaction is an adamant decline but then Jessie’s heart fails. Bell initially refused to amend the six-month sobriety policy for her, despite it being his drug trial that caused Jessie’s kidney to fail in the first place. Out of options, Nic went back to Alec to meet with the man in question. He’s all business. $100,000 for the kidney! Where did Nic get the money for that?
However, at the end of the day, Nic can’t go through with it. She finds out Elliot is scamming desperate people out of money. The young woman who would have been Jessie’s donor was only going to receive 10% of the profits. So much for this guy being decent, right Alec?
It’s a good thing Conrad came through with a Plan B. Now they just have to find a donor, which I’m guessing means going back to Kyle in the finale.
Oh and Alec gets put on a bus as he leaves the clinic. Don’t let the door hit you on your way out buddy!
Odds & ends
- Mina: Why does anyone bother? Austin: People love to spoon.
- I want to know how Jessie made her enemy. Debate over the best chair in the room? Also super cute that she got her 60-day sobriety chip!
- Super weird to hear Devon, of all people, trying to give Mina romantic advice. Speaking of, he is still hanging out with Shira but no word yet on what the deal was with her stealing morphine from a patient.
The season finale of The Resident titled, “The Unbefriended”, will premiere May 6 at 8/7c on FOX.
