3. White Queen (Emma Frost)

Emma Frost was done dirty in the live-action X-Men film universe. Her abilities were watered down and she was only shown as a companion to the film’s villain, leader of the Hellfire Club, Sebastian Shaw, in X-Men: First Class. Then to make matters even worse, she died off-screen at the torturous hands of Bolivar Trask and is only briefly mentioned by Erik in X-Men: Days of Future Past.

While Emma did have a few cool moments in First Class, such as exhibiting her full-on diamond transformation and her ability to stop any and all telepathic abilities being used on her, she ultimately was underutilized and her character wasted. Her abilities include being a high-level telepath and shape-shifting into an organic diamond compound.

In the comics, she was made the queen of the Hellfire Club for a time. While originally she was portrayed as a super-villain, she has become a hero in her own right in recent incarnations.

January Jones portrayed Emma Frost in X-Men: First Class. She did a decent job with the material she was given, but I always pictured Emma being played by someone with more acuity and natural slyness as she’s a very witty character. I’m a fan of the Natalie Dormer fan-casting. I think she would bring Emma to life spectacularly if we ever see her grace the big screen again.
