Shadowhunters fans confused by Season 4 renewal of The Bold Type

During the ABC Upfront conference May 14, the network announced its series The Bold Type was picked up for Season 4, confusing Shadowhunters fans across the globe.

The ABC Upfront brought with it both great and bad news, depending on which series you’re into. For Shadowhunters fans, Freeform disappointed, but didn’t surprise, with sticking to its decision to keep the supernatural drama off the air. For The Bold Type crowd, however, audiences were happy to learn a fourth season was coming. Well…for the most part.

The decision to bring back The Bold Type, which stars Katie Stevens, Aisha Dee and Meghann Fahy, for another season has been confusing viewers, particularly fans of Shadowhunters. Needless to say, they are not happy and are asking for answers.

Supporters have taken to Twitter to ask: Why was The Bold Type picked up for another season, but not Shadowhunters when the latter has a visibly more massive fan base and support?

We wish we had some answers for you, guys! Freeform’s decision is certainly strange. How do you feel about all of this? Shadowhunters fans were loud, clear, and spared no expense promoting the final season in a last-ditch effort to save the series. Shadowhunters even appeared at No. 8 on the most binge-watched series of the week.
