There are two other major issues that make no sense for Jon Snow.

The reunion at Castle Black, and the subsequent hike into the woods, is so unfulfilling not because of the result, but the implausibility.

Issue #4 – Why is everyone waiting?

Ostensibly, they’re waiting for Jon Snow to return. Sure, they miss him. But they’re all going to wait an indefinite amount of time at Castle Black on the hopes that Jon may or may not change his mind and travel back up north?

To make matters worse, he didn’t even decide to return voluntarily; he was forced to return. So without killing Daenerys and being expelled, he likely never makes his way to the waiting Wildlings. There’s yet another rugged culture neutered, sitting at home like a dog waiting to see their master.

Speaking of dogs, at least the Wildlings are semi-intelligent; their waiting makes a modicum of sense. Ghost waiting around after getting completely ignored by Jon doesn’t make sense at all. Especially after being nearly feral the majority of the series.

Issue #5 – You know nothing, Aegon Targaryen.

Why did it matter that Jon Snow was Aegon Targaryen? That literally could have excluded and the story could have remained the exact same. Whether or not he was fornicating with his aunt did not matter. He could/would have killed her anyway.

Furthermore, Drogon didn’t torch him, proving the Targaryen bloodline. Instead, Jon/Aegon just felt the heat of some burning steel nearby. Big deal.

It simply didn’t matter at all. The threat to her rightful ascendancy is the only issue, and even that’s moot considering her actions. Up until Jon was plunging the dagger into Dany’s torso, she was proclaiming her love for him. That’s a massive problem considering how big of a part Jon being a Targaryen played in the plot for such a long time.

R+L was pointless other than it being a fancy DNA test. A medieval Maury Povich show. Ned Stark, you are NOT the father…but you already knew that.

Game of Thrones is over, and everyone should be mourning the loss of the best show to ever air on television. Jon Snow’s finish, however, is severely lacking and may support the thoughts that the final season desperately needed source material.
