2. Grace and Maggie save Eve’s life.

Fed up with circumstances at home, missing her father, and still dealing with the emotional turmoil of an eating disorder, Eve runs away from home. She returns to New York and visits her father in prison. He makes a promise to meet up with her when he gets released.

To celebrate, Eve goes overboard with the drinking at a party. Luckily, Grace is there to take her home safely. But the next day, Eve doesn’t wake up.

Grace is forced to call her mom, who, in turn, calls a relapsed Sylvie. It’s a tense moment where you wonder if Sylvie can pull herself together for her daughter. Maggie reminds her of the day at the beach when Eve almost drowned, and Mark saved her. “Mark is gone; she only has you.”

Sylvie rushes to the NY hospital in time to aid her daughter’s recovery. Grace managed to perform CPR and save her sister’s life.

Maggie not letting a petty argument get in the way of something that matters proves their friendship is worth fighting for. Also, Mark not showing up for his daughter in her darkest hour, is the final nail in the coffin.

1. Maggie and Sylvie outsmart Mark.

A criminal like Mark, who is obsessed with money, doesn’t go to jail without a back-up plan for when he gets out. Maggie and Sylvie figure out he has a nest egg of somewhere in the neighborhood of $3 million hidden away.

The cash is stowed in a hideous self-portrait of Maggie in the cabin. It’s fun to watch both women dive into the portrait with butcher knives (albeit a tad psychotic), and their glee when they realize it was the hiding place all along.

When Mark does show up for the money, they decide they’ll split it. Honestly, that pissed me off. Mark doesn’t deserve a single cent! And, as expected, he tries to sneak out in the morning with the entire bag.

Having known how slippery and conniving of a man he is, Sylvie rigged his car so it wouldn’t start. They send him packing, for good this time. BUT THEY STILL GIVE HIM MONEY. WHY!?

Either way, the families live happily ever after, and Mark is left to crawl under a rock and die somewhere.
