Amazon Prime Video is set to bring an immersive SDCC activation for The Boys, The Expanse and Carnival Row. Here’s what you can expect to find inside:

If you were anywhere near San Diego Comic-Con last year (or scrolling through posts online), chances are you saw Amazon’s incredibly immersive activation for Jack Ryan where guests completed their own secret mission — complete with a VR helicopter jump. This year, Amazon Prime Video is BACK, and with three series included in its activation, it’s will likely soar to the top of everyone’s must-do list once again.

Located across from the San Diego Convention Center at the corner of MLK and 1st Ave., Amazon Prime Video’s mega-activation will transport fans to the world of three Amazon Original Series: The Boys, The Expanse and Carnival Row. Here are some exciting details we’ve learned so far:

  • The Amazon Prime Video Experience is an immersive 60,000 square-foot activation.
  • A 40-foot tower covered with LED screens that will feature scenes from The Boys, Carnival Row and The Expanse throughout the convention.
  • There will be LIVE performances (specifically themed to each of the series) from the top of the tower.

What can fans do inside the Amazon Prime Video SDCC Activation?

When you get into the Amazon Prime Video SDCC Activation, you’ll receive collectible gold and silver coins that will be used to gain access to the series-specific rooms. The Audio Visual shop from The Boys will be recreated, where fans can help cover up the “crime scene of a superhero kidnapping”. In another part of the activation, a Rocinante spaceship from The Expanse will bring “adventure-seekers on a United Nations peacekeeping mission to a newly colonized planet.”

Finally, guests can venture into the universe of Carnival Row, where “humans and exotic creatures coexist”. Be sure to check out The Forbidden Lounge, a “neo-Victorian decorated hideaway venue”, where Amazon ensures us there will be a special performance related to the series.

The outside space between these individual activations will be utilized as a fan lounge where guests can relax and enjoy refreshments. And if you’re a Cosplayer, be sure to find the Cosplay Photography Corner, where a “lifestyle photographer will be onsite to take professional portraits as digital takeaways”. But even if you’re not a Cosplayer… you should still absolutely get a souvenir photo from the activation to take home.

Set in a Victorian fantasy world filled with mythological immigrant creatures whose exotic homelands were invaded by the empires of man, Amazon Prime Video’s Carnival Row explores how this growing population struggles to coexist with humans — forbidden to live, love, or fly with freedom.
