The seventh episode of Stranger Things season 3 is titled The Bite, and it proves the fate of the world may not rest in El’s hands.

Stranger Things is long past the introduction phase. Many have binged through the entire third season and detailed their thoughts in depth. Appreciation of each step of the process, however, is what makes the series so much better. The rising action and the climax are upon us, and provide a small glimpse of how the Mind Flayer might just lose.

Caution: Huge spoilers ahead. Turn away now if you haven’t binge-watched the series.

1. New coke sucked

There may never have been a bigger bust than New Coke. It was atrocious, and nearly universally disliked. Orange Vanilla Coke may soon provide it company, but New Coke was the bust by which all others should be mentioned and measured.

Stranger Things, despite the covert war versus Russians and the impending planetary doom if an other-worldy monster is not stopped, still made time for some comedy. Lucas is really into New Coke. So much so, in fact, he compares it to Carpenter’s version of The Thing, saying they are both sweeter, bolder, and better than the original. Naturally, everyone else thinks he’s crazy.

Lucas also thinks some fireworks will help fight the Mind Flayer; so, he was at least one for two.
