6. 90210

Who’s in it: Shenae Grimes, AnnaLynne McCord, Tristan Wilds, Jessica Stroup, Michael Steger, Jessica Lowndes, Matt Lanter, Trevor Donovan, Gillian Zinser, Ryan Eggold, Rob Estes, Lori Loughlin, Dustin Milligan, Jessica Walter

What it’s about: In a similar vein to the original series, 90210 picks up with a family moving to Beverly Hills from Kansas and dealing with the initial culture shock. From the second they set foot in California, Annie (Shenae Grimes) and Dixon Wilson (Tristan Wilds) must grapple with the lifestyle shift as they make friends in their fast-paced new home. Of course, the reboot outgrew the shadow of its predecessor and found its own identity as a truly great teen drama guilty pleasure.

Why you should watch: While 90210 doesn’t necessarily have the same feisty bite of Dynasty, both shows are cut from the same crazy cloth. 90210 can’t claim to have recast a major role with its leading star (that’s confusing to non-fans), but in its five seasons on The CW, the reboot boasted some of the wildest stories on TV. Like the original, there was honest, issues-based storytelling. But for the most part, 90210 was full-calorie TV junk food in the very best way.

Tori Spelling, Shannen Doherty, and, most notably, Jennie Garth reprise their roles as Donna Martin, Brenda Walsh, and Kelly Taylor for multiple episodes. But after the middling first season, the reboot hardly needed to rely on the nostalgia factor.

All it needed was the zip code and the fierce leadership of AnnaLynne McCord’s complex queen bee Naomi Clark. Peach Pit purists might write off this reboot, but Dynasty diehards will hang onto every cliffhanger.
