Who’s in it: Madeleine Stowe, Emily VanCamp, Gabriel Mann, Henry Czerny, Ashley Madekwe, Nick Wechsler, Josh Bowman, Connor Paolo, Christa B. Allen, Barry Sloane, James Tupper, Karine Vanasse, Brian Hallisay, Elena Satine

What it’s about: A soap opera in every sense of the term, Revenge follows Emily Thorne (Emily VanCamp), otherwise known by her given name Amanda Clarke, as she returns to the Hamptons to seek revenge on the wealthy family that framed her father for a terrorist attack and sent him to prison.

In order to complete her extensive plan to ruin the lives of those directly involved with her father’s wrongful imprisonment, Emily spars with the powerful Victoria Grayson (Madeleine Stowe), the toughest target to hit on her quest for revenge.

Why you should watch: Although Revenge can venture into darker territory than Dynasty, its twists and turns march to the beat of the same drummer. There’s a sense of humor in the Carrington manor amid the chaos that’s often absent from the venomous manse of the Graysons. Yet fans of Dynasty will recognize that addictive quality that keeps you hooked to every word, detail, and silent staring match between Emily and Victoria.

Revenge often gets left out of the conversation when talking about some of television’s most entertaining dramas, but it should be spoken in the same breath as most of the shows grabbing awards and smashing the ratings. Topping out at four seasons, Revenge might be small, but oh, is it mighty. From its opening mystery to its final full-circle resolution, you’ll be watching with bated breath as the lines between right, wrong, and revenge blur beyond recognition.
