Synopsis: Moulin Rouge is a musical using music from well-known artists over the years. McGregor is a poet in France who falls in love with a beautiful courtesan (Kidman). The two start a love story but an evil duke (Roxburgh) has other ideas.

Why watch it: If you love musicals, this movie is a must. While there may be no original songs, it’s full of catchy tunes. Kidman and McGregor impress with their voices, and there’s a bittersweet romance mixed in with the music. This is one of those movies that stands against time.

9. Aquaman

Synopsis: Arthur Curry is the half-human heir to Atlantis. However, his full-Atlantian half-brother is focused on taking the throne. This could mean war between the ocean and the land. Arthur wants to prevent that. Despite himself not feeling worthy, he goes on a journey to take the throne and ensure war doesn’t happen.

Why watch it: Aquaman is a DCU movie that you’ll want to check out and own on DVD or Blu-ray. Unlike some of the previous movies, it offers a fast-paced action movie with plenty of character development for the lead character. The downside is I think Heard’s Mera needs a bit of extra development.

Kidman isn’t in too much of the movie, but you do get to see her in a slightly different light compared to most of her movies. She’s the Queen of Atlantis but also a fighter.
