10 shows and movies with the Big Little Lies cast to watch
8. The Tale
Release date: May 27, 2018
Big Little Lies cast member: Laura Dern
Also starring: Elizabeth Debicki, Jason Ritter, Ellen Burstyn, Frances Conroy, John Heard
Synopsis: While filming a documentary on childhood rape victims, Jennifer (Dern) starts to question the relationships she had with adults as a child. More importantly, she questions those with her running coach and a riding instructor and realizes something she never did before.
Why watch it: This is one of those movies that isn’t going to be easy to watch. It can also be triggering for some. However, it’s extremely poignant for today’s culture and news. Also, this movie is based on a true story, that of director Jennifer Fox.
For those who have watched Big Little Lies and commended the writers for telling a story as it should be told, you’ll want to watch The Tale. It’s raw and honest, with a subject that rarely gets any light.
7. Downsizing
Release date: Dec. 22, 2017
Big Little Lies cast member: Laura Dern
Also starring: Matt Damon, Christoph Waltz, Hong Chau, Kristen Wiig
Synopsis: Technology in the world of Downsizing has grown considerably to the point where people can be shrunk. It helps to deal with the popular problem, while also offers many an excellent retirement option. Matt Damon’s Paul and his wife decide to look into downsizing, but it doesn’t all quite go to plan.
Why watch it: Dern isn’t in a lot of the movie. She plays the wife of the head of the downsizing company owner, showing off all the luxuries of going through the downsizing process. However, that doesn’t stop the movie from being one to watch. It brings up a lot of poignant topics, including human rights violations, the future of the world, and the growth of technology.
