Rumours have been circulating that Doctor Who Showrunner Chris Chibnall and the Doctor herself, Jodie Whittaker, have quit. This, thankfully, is just laughable.

Good news Doctor Who fans. The rumors that have been going around for a wee now that both Chris Chibnall and Jodie Whittaker have decided to quit the BBC sci-fi series are not true.

Not that many of us really believed the rumor, but I have to admit, this one did build up quite some traction compared to the last time a rumor like this went around the fandom.

The rumor was pretty straight forward. Chirs Chibnall had left the show completely and Jodie Whittaker had also decided to leave as well. Before the rumor built up traction on social media, it appeared in a Doctor Who forum first of all with fans expecting an official announcement to be made. Fans had even reached the point of debating who would take over Chibnall.

Like I said though, the rumor has been completely disputed by members of the Doctor Who team. Many of them finding it completely bizarre at how the rumor managed to emerge in the first place. Speaking exclusively to Radio Times, they explained how it was “nonsense.”

This is great news for Doctor Who fans. With Season 12 in the middle of filming and set to premiere in 2020, if this rumor as in fact true, the delay to Season 12 could be enormous. In fact, there is always the possibility it would be the beginning of the end to Doctor Who, and nobody wants that?
