Moviegoers who enjoyed Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark are wondering if there will be more frightening stories to come. Here’s what we know!

With an 81% fresh from critics and 72% from audiences over at Rotten Tomatoes, it’s safe to say Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark is a late-summer hit. Unfortunately, however, even with Guillermo del Toro‘s haunting touches, it didn’t perform as great at the box office. The movie opened at No. 2, behind two-time champ Hobbs & Shaw.

Still, the $20.8 million it gathered domestically is enough for the small budget film. That said, will the studio make another one?

Even though nothing has yet been confirmed or announced, a Scary Stories sequel is almost a sure thing. In fact, I’d say we’re looking at a new franchise here. This series, like the books, will target a younger audience.

As far as the story in the movie goes, even the main character, Stella (Zoe Margaret Colletti), gives viewers hope. She and her father, along with Ruth (Natalie Ganzhorn), are driving away from their town. Stella shares that she believes she and Ruth can find a way to bring their friends back (Auggie and Chuck). A sequel can very well focus on that or it can just be another movie with a new cast. The books do, after all, have plenty of stories to share.

In the movie, we only got a few of the stories from the books. But if you add them all together, there are a total of 82 frightening tales the movie franchise can share. Would you like to see these come alive on the big screen?
