After waiting months for news on a possible Lizzie McGuire revival, Hilary Duff revealed at Disney’s D23 Expo that the show is coming back!

Hey now, hey now! This is what dreams are made of! After a long wait, fans have learned that a Lizzie McGuire revival is happening! Not only that, but Hilary Duff herself will be reprising her role as Lizzie McGuire.

Hilary said that the revival will be about Lizzie McGuire now living in New York City as an interior decorator’s apprentice with her fiance, and she’s going to be there for everyone in her 30s, just like how her character was there for everyone in their pre-teens.

Will original cast members make appearances?

As many of you are wondering, will any of the original cast members be making appearances such as Lizzie’s best friend Miranda Sanchez (Lalaine)? Hilary gave us promising news. She teased fans saying:

"“The whole cast is such a big part of the show and we have a lot of surprises in store for viewers,” she said."

More from Disney Plus

She also said the following about Lizzie going through new challenges to ENews:

"“She was there for everyone in their pre-teens. She was their best friend, and I would love to try to embody that for her in her 30s and going through those challenges.”"

I’ll take that over bad news any day. I would also love for Lizzie and Gordo to be together. That’s not going to happen, though, unless Lizzie’s fiance is in fact Gordo.

Will the revival focus only on Lizzie McGuire?

From what I read, it appears it’ll focus on Lizzie, however, she also has a fiance who’s a chef, so perhaps it’ll focus on both of them? I’m not sure. Hilary didn’t mention anything about having kids, so this will definitely be exciting news for us fans as we get to relive our childhood.

The animated Lizzie is returning

What better way to make a show feel like the original than bringing almost everything back? Hilary confirmed the animated Lizzie will be returning. We’ll be seeing it bring out Lizzie’s innermost feelings and fears.

The original creator, Terri Minsky, is returning

Yes, this is probably one of the best news. Nothing is more important than having the original creator of the show who created the characters returning to the revival. I’m sure it’ll have the same heart and vibe as the original show.

The episodes will be weekly

TVLine hears that Disney+ episodes will be released on a weekly basis. This is amazing news as I personally dislike binging episodes all at once. It’s so much better watching episodes weekly. If only Netflix had this format. It’s going to be interesting how the content will be handled as it’s not on the Disney Channel network, only on the streaming application.

Every original series and movie you can stream on Disney+. dark. Next

There is no set date on when the revival is going to appear on Disney+. This was just announced, so it’s going to take time for everything to come together. Writing the episodes, casting, building the sets, etc. We’ll let you know once we hear a date though.
