5. Criminal Minds (2014-2015)

What it’s about: Criminal Minds centers on a team of behavioral profilers who work under the FBI as the key members of the Behavioral Analysis Unit. The team utilizes behavioral analysis to get inside the minds of criminals and further investigate their crimes. As the group cracks open various cases, the series also traces their personal lives. In Season 10, Jennifer Love Hewitt played Kate Callahan, a former undercover FBI agent who’s transferred to the BAU.

Who else co-stars: Hewitt joined the 10th season cast of Criminal Minds that also included returning stars Joe Mantegna as David Rossi, Shemar Moore as Derek Morgan, Matthew Gray Gubler as Dr. Spencer Reid, A. J. Cook as Jennifer Jareau, Kirsten Vangsness as Penelope Garcia, and Thomas Gibson as Aaron Hotchner.

Why it’s one of her best: Even though Hewitt appeared on Criminal Minds for only one season, her role on the long-running procedural drama marked a high-profile yet safe comeback to the small screen. After the conclusion of The Client List on Lifetime and having her first child with husband Brian Hallisay, Hewitt slipped into the cast of one of television’s highest-rated dramas and brought her star power for an unforgettable season.

Where to watch: Twelve seasons of Criminal Minds are available to stream on Netflix, while the latest 14th season is available to stream on CBS All Access.
