4. The Client List (2012-2013)

What it’s about: Based on the Lifetime movie of the same name also starring Jennifer Love Hewitt, The Client List follows Riley Parks (Hewitt) and the work she accepts as a masseuse at a day spa. After Riley’s husband leaves her and their children high and dry, Riley subsides her financial debt by giving massages and a little something extra. While also dealing with personal matters outside of work, Riley must keep her erotic secret under wraps.

Who else co-stars: The series also starred Cybill Shepherd as Riley’s mother Lynnette, Loretta Devine as Georgia Cummings-Clemens, Colin Egglesfield as Evan Parks, Rebecca Field as Lacey, Alicia Lagano as Selena, Brian Hallisay as Kyle Parks, Naturi Naughton as Kendra, Kathleen York as Jolene, and Laura-Leigh as Nikki.

Why it’s one of her best: It’s no secret that The Client List wasn’t a massively successful hit series for Lifetime, lasting only two seasons for a total of 25 episodes. (A third season was on the table, though Hewitt and the powers that be disagreed on the direction the series would take following her pregnancy.) But the series was a bigger win for Hewitt, not only because she met her husband on the show, but because she used her star power to turn a movie into a series that grabbed headlines simply because she was in it. The Client List scored a loyal core audience, who will always wonder what became of Riley Parks and her secret life at The Rub.

Where to watch: The Client List currently isn’t available to stream online.
