10. Burn After Reading

Original Release Date: Sept. 12, 2008

Box Office Earnings: Burn After Reading walked away with $19.1m of its estimated $37m budget at opening weekend. It grossed $60m in the United States but performed much better globally, bringing in $163m.

Critical Acclaim: The movie is Certified Fresh, with a 78% score from the critics on Rotten Tomatoes. It holds a 64% score from the audience. Burn After Reading was nominated for two Golden Globes, but didn’t walk away with wins.

About the Role: In Burn After Reading, Brad Pitt takes on the persona of Chad Feldheimer, a gym employee who ends up with the memoirs of a former CIA analyst. His gym partner, Linda, believes she’ll get enough money for cosmetic surgery, and the two head off on an adventure to sell the memoirs.

You just know it’s not going to be that simple, right? This black comedy takes us on a wild ride. Just wait until you see what happens to Chad if you haven’t seen it already!

Simply the Best: This was one of those movies where we got to see Brad Pitt take on a very different role to the type we were used to. Buy the time of this release, we’d had the likes of Curious Case of Benjamin Button, FuryTroy, and so many more action movies or stories with deep meanings.

Burn After Reading gave him a chance to just have fun. And having fun is certainly what it seemed like he did.
