Critical Acclaim: This is one of those movies where critics and audiences were on the fence. You’re either going to love it or hate it. Hey, no movie is for everyone!
About the Role: Brad Pitt is the Mr. Smith in the title. More specifically, he’s John Smith (no, not a Doctor Who reference). He seems to have a normal life, until you learn that he’s a spy. And it just so happens his wife, Mrs. Jane Smith, is also a spy. To make matters worse, they end up being each other’s hits. Can they go through with it?
Simply the Best: While there was (and still is) some negativity around this movie for Brad Pitt’s private life, let’s just look at the performance right now. This wasn’t a role that he would have needed a lot of research for. After all, he’d played similar roles in the past. However, this was one of those movies that gave us plenty of on-screen chemistry, a lot of laughs, and was just plenty of fun to watch.
When you need a movie to just throw on in the background, Mr. and Mrs. Smith is going to be one of them. I guarantee that no matter how often you watch, you’ll love that scene in the house when everyone has turned against them and they need to get out.
