New Amsterdam Season 2: Who survived the ambulance crash and who died?

We knew that not everyone would make it out of the ambulance crash alive. New Amsterdam delivered a heartbreaking episode as we learned who didn’t live.

We knew that one person wouldn’t survive the ambulance crash. In the end, it was two who wouldn’t make it, but who would those two be? The New Amsterdam Season 2 premiere gave us the heartbreaking reveals throughout the episode.

The episode was done extremely well, starting with Max and Georgia waking up in bed to a crying Luna. “It’s always my turn,” Max says as he gets up to get Luna. This should have been the big giveaway and if, like me, you figured out what was going on, you’ve probably watched far too much TV!

Over the course of the episode, we saw that Sharpe had suffered a dislocated shoulder and Bloom almost died but Reynolds managed to bring her back. The immediate casualty (while we were wondering where Sharpe was in the mess) was one of the paramedics.

At the very end of the episode, Max returned home to Georgia still in bed. Once again, Luna starts crying and it’s Max’s turn yet again to get her. That’s when we finally get the flashback of Georgia at the hospital.

Georgia had been awake when brought into the hospital but needed to go up for surgery. We’d hoped she would live, but sadly, she was the casualty. Max got to the operating room as time of death had been called. There was nothing to do for her.

And then it turned out that Georgia was just a figment of Max’s imagination. The new father unwilling to completely move on from the loss of his wife. Denial is one of the stages of grief, but there’s also an element of anger there—anger at the surgeon who failed to save Georgia’s life.

It was the death that I expected in New Amsterdam, but that didn’t mean I wanted it to happen. However, this is going to lead to some big storylines for Max (who is on his way to being cancer-free right now) as he deals with the loss and being a widowed new dad.
