New Amsterdam Season 2’s fall finale certainly took us on a wild ride. The ending catapulted us into the hiatus, and here’s a breakdown of events.

We’re heading into the winter break for all our favorite shows. New Amsterdam was one of the first, and what a fall finale it was. Need some time to break down the events of the final moments that catapulted us into the break? Here’s a look at the events.

Most of the episode was spent in Riker’s Island, a female penitentiary. When one inmate is brought in with a condition that could have been prevented, the doctors of New Amsterdam know the women aren’t getting the medical care they need. And so, off they go to help.

More from NBC

There’s a lot to do, but it seems like some of the inmates are happy to help bring order to the place. If only it was as simple as that. When there’s an attack at the end, multiple women are taken to New Amsterdam. You knew this wasn’t just some random fight, right?

Earlier in the episode, an inmate suffered a heroin overdose and was taken to New Amsterdam. When she woke up from the overdose, she made it clear that she didn’t do drugs. This wasn’t an accident, and someone had tried to kill her.

At the same time, a nurse’s badge had gone missing. Coincidence? I’ve seen enough of NCIS to know that isn’t the case. There’s no such thing as coincidence.

Well, it all links back to the woman who brought order at Riker’s. This wasn’t some inmate just trying to help the doctors. She had a bigger plan. She and a few others who have ended up at new Amsterdam are the ones who tried to kill the heroin OD patient.

This is the moment that pushes us into the break and makes us need to tune in for the midseason premiere in January. There are inmates around who have managed to uncuff themselves and steal a gun. Knowing the heroin OD inmate hasn’t died, they’re out for blood.

Why are they out for blood? It sounds like they view this inmate as a “rat.” In other words, she spoke up about something going on and has been hurt because of it.
