5 highlights from Grey’s Anatomy Season 16 (so far)

#4 – Bailey navigates her new chapter

Sometimes it feels like Miranda Bailey can’t catch a break even though she’s got the man and job of her dreams. Grey Sloan’s Chief of Surgery immediately had to deal with the consequences of firing three of her closest peers – Meredith, Richard and Alex – in the wake of an insurance fraud scandal.

To make matters worse, Catherine Fox promoted Tom Koracick, of all people, to Chief Medical Officer of the Fox Foundation, making him Bailey’s new boss. Fast-forward to Episode 4 where Meredith’s health care system article leaks, causing more headaches for Bailey, who just learned that she is starting menopause and her second pregnancy at the same time.

What originally made all the setbacks worth it was seeing the pure joy and love Bailey and Ben shared when she revealed the pregnancy news. Unfortunately, the writers had other plans as we are now witnessing them deal with a miscarriage, as revealed in the fall finale, “Let’s All Go to the Bar.”

This new roadblock may be difficult for the powerhouse couple to work through, but like everything else they’ve encountered, I have hope that they will make it through to the other side. But first, they’ll have to get past Ben being trapped inside the bar after what we witnessed at the end of Episode 9.
