2. Rammstein: Paris

German industrial metal veterans Rammstein is a group you have to see to believe. Their concerts are epic displays of power, complete with dazzling pýrotechnics, dark, militaristic imagery, and an intensity that’s really hard to match.

However, the band is often subject to controversy. Often accused of referencing Nazi propaganda, to which they have always responded that they’re firmly against Fascism (and very left-wing), Rammstein uses the heaviness of their sound and the shocking visuals to make a strong critique of the historical atrocities committed by the people in power, the same way the best war films would.

That visually impactful aspect is best captured in Rammstein: Paris, a stunning recording of one of their biggest shows in the French capital, directed by none other than Jonas Åkerlund, one of the most important music video creators of all time. The Germans make a spectacle for the ages, no wonder why they’re one of Europe’s biggest metal bands.

1. Sheryl Crow: Live At The Capitol Theatre (2018)

We have to start recognizing Sheryl Crow’s status as an icon. Back in the 90s, with her trademark sound, which incorporates elements of pop, rock, soul, country, and folk, the Missouri-born singer-songwriter became a complete sensation. With hits such as “All I Wanna Do”, and “If It Makes You Happy”, she opened the door for many female artists to enter the mainstream.

Live At The Capitol Theatre was recorded as part of her Be Myself tour in 2017. The monumental scope of the performance, together with the weight of such a distinguished venue, make for a captivating experience, as she goes through her smash-filled discography, delivering gem after gem, on a set that, most importantly, feels both cohesive and fun.
